Business studies and marketing is my training, the creative stuff is my  pleasure and passion. Lacking formal art training or any creative qualification I have taught myself  through exploration and experiment, avid reading and gleaning ideas from other disciplines, and sharing ideas with other people.

I have exhibited my work in the UK and in Australia, and have pieces in collections in Japan, America and Australia as well as at home in the UK. I have published articles in magazines both home and abroad, and on Workshop On The Web. My first book about using Friendly Plastic has been published, and a second is on the way.  DVDs are my current venture, the first of a series is out now.

I was Founder Chair of West Bridgford Branch of the Embroiderers Guild which I still enjoy for the pleasure of being with other textile people. I am currently Chair of NOLITEX, a group of textile artists based in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire which provides the stimulus for getting down to stitching as we exhibit on a regular basis. I am also a member of The Computer Textile Design Group (CTDG)  which provides the inspiration for exploring the use of the computer as a design tool in my textile work.

I have been teaching Friendly Plastic for all sorts of applications, Free Machine Embroidery, and creative textiles for over 15 years .
I have a small jewellery making business based on Friendly Plastic.

You are most welcome to visit my  personal website  www.lizwelch.me.uk  where you can find details of my classes, gallery pages of my work, and a lot of pictures and projects for Friendly Plastic.
