Metal shape cutters are so handy for creating precise shapes in FP and all sorts of other materials (Fimo, Sculpy, Plasticine, and even for you radicals out there, sugar paste!) Warm the plastic, ideally with hot water and then cut out shapes from the softened plastic using these cutters. Intricate shapes can be made and both the shapes and the bit left behind, the negative, can be used in many ways.. Great for mounting smaller shapes, making buttons, building patterns, cutting straight lines, making mosaic pieces, in fact anything where you want to repeat a shape over again.
The nesting shape sets work really well for creating a shape and embedding it into a slightly larger shape to give a border effect. The ribbon cutters cut precise straight ribbons of FP, and can be used to cut again at right angles to produce small squares or rectangles for making mosaics. Some of the shapes will tessellate so larger patchwork designs can be made. The irregular shapes such as leaves and stars add a counterpoint to the freeform techniques of working the plastic. The mini geometric and romantic shapes are great for adorning beads and other small projects, or for cutting out shapes from within the larger shapes for inlay.
